The main work, Dona nobis pacem, which we last performed in 1992, presents a powerful statement on peace in the time of conflict. His other works – Five Mystical Songs and Benedicite will complete the program. This concert is a co-production with ESO Handel’s Messiah Wednesday December 7, 2022 6.00pm Winspear Centre Richard Eaton Singers Leonard Ratzlaff, Conductor Edmonton Symphony Orchestra Hannah Pagenkopf, Soprano Sarah Staples, Alto Timothy Shantz, Tenor Michael Kurschat, Bass An exciting, rare opportunity to experience this seasonal favourite. Written by George Frederic Handel in just three short weeks during the summer of 1741 for Easter celebrations the music traces the life story of Jesus Christ in three sweeping sections: Prophecy & Fulfillment; Suffering, and Redemption. This concert is a co-production with ESO. Mendelssohn’s Elijah Thursday March 30, 2023 6.00pm Winspear Centre Richard Eaton Singers Leonard Ratzlaff, Conductor Edmonton Symphony Orchestra Miriam Khalil, Soprano Lauren Segal, Mezzo-Soprano Geoffrey Sirett, Baritone, Elijah John Tessier, Tenor Last performed by RES in 2012 to great acclaim, this magnificent choral work has remained enduringly popular with audiences since the first public performance on August 26, 1846.
